A quick Ravelry search has revealed that most people aren't nearly as bothered by the fact that the pattern in Pomatomus goes the same direction for both socks as I am.
Kinda sorta. I started the second sock doing the chart in reverse, with a sort of twisted k2tog in place of the k2togtbl so that everything slants the proper direction. So far I'm much happier.
